Each Friday, Courtney Close, our guidance teacher, is joining us for a Second Step lesson. Second Step in a social and emotional curriculum that helps empower students to problem solve, advocate for themselves and build empathy for others. This Friday we spent time thinking about different feelings and which zones they are connected with.
(We later moved the ´mean´ card to the red zone.)

Nearby Nature: Leaf Eaters
Thank you to our awesome Nearby Nature volunteers!! Our theme for this year is ecosystems. We started off this week learning about the different ways in which little critters use leaves. We noticed the many different patterns that are left on leaves after they have been eaten by insects. We also observed how some insects use a leaf as shelter during part of their life cycle.
Fire Prevention Day
The Shelburne Fire and Rescue squad held another amazing day of fire prevention at SCS. These volunteers do such an awesome job with the kids. We are grateful for their time and service!

Morning Write
Every Tuesday and Thursday students start their day with a morning write. They write a sentence with a picture. They are practicing starting their sentences with a capitol letter and using end punctuation!
Name Puzzles
Everyone created their own name puzzles! We then solved our own and each other's! We ended up with a beautiful piece of art.
