Nearby Nature: Keeping warm in winter

This month we learned about the many different ways animals keep warm and survive the winter. Some hunker down and become dormant, some migrate and some have great layers of warmth on their bodies.  We conducted a great experiment to see which materials would keep a small bottle of hot water warmest when left outside. We used cotton, plastic, fleece and packing peanuts as insulators. Turned out the fleece kept the water the warmest!

Filling Our Buckets!

We are working hard every day to fill one another's buckets with kind words and actions!

Non-Fiction Text Features

We have been learning about all the cool features in non-fiction books! We even made our own book with examples of different features cut out of National Geographic magazines. We found close-ups, captions, labels, diagrams and more!! What's more fun than cutting apart magazines?  :)
